Great evening had by all and topped off with an intro to Rick (Giles pal) who it would seem is an experienced Ironman with 28 bikes in his garage. Whilst my garage may have that many wheeled modes of transport they vary from kids tricycles to roller skates to scooters and the occasional unused mountain bike (Lizzie - hold your head in shame!) - hardly a carbon frame in sight.
Best advice, from an experienced triathlete, cyclist, ultra event specialist and Ironman, for my dodgy calves was to buy a pair of Hoka Clifton 2 running shoes. Whilst they do look a bit odd, they do seem to do the trick. The only issue is that I had to come clean with Lizzie at the weekend that her advice to me (which I have ignored for 6 months) was to buy a pair of Hoka shoes to protect my calves. You can imagine her glee when I told her she was right (again!). I have a pair on order and will get them later this week.
Now that I once again know who wears the trousers in this house, I'll get back to washing the dishes, doing the ironing and making the beds before my cleansing routine and getting my nails done ...
